Tech Support Alerts

Objective

In this exercise, you will use the Tech Support Alerts as a Help resource.

Facts

Open the Tech Support Alerts and view all of the Federal bulletins .

Program Considerations

Tech Support Alerts contain solutions to common problems, and suggestions from Lacerte Support, all updated when you connect to Lacerte* so you can always find up-to-date information.

*e-filing connections may not update Tech Support Alerts. When you connect to transmit e-file returns using the e-file Validate and Send Wizard, the program does not check for updated Tech Support Alerts or Lacerte E-Mail. This is also true for connections made to receive e-file acknowledgements. If you connect via the Communication Manager, the program does check for any e-file acknowledgements, any pending e-mail, and Tech Support Alerts.

 

How?

To open Tech Support Alerts:

  1. On the Help menu, click Troubleshooting & Support. This opens the Lacerte Help Center.

  2. Click Review Tech Support Alerts in the Troubleshooting section.

  3. Check the Federal box and click Search.

  4. To view a bulletin, click the title link.
  5. Click the X to close the Lacerte Help Center.

To check for new Tech Support Alerts:

  1. On the Tools menu, point to Communications, and then click Communication Manager.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. You will notice that Tech Support Alerts is checked. This indicates that the program will check for new bulletins when you connect.
  4. If new bulletins are received, a Post Transmission Summary appears. Click OK.
  5. Click Yes to close the Communication Manager.

Tips & Shortcuts

You can quickly open the Communication Manager by clicking the Communication Manager icon on the toolbar, or by pressing [Ctrl]+[Q].

Troubleshooting

Problem: I connected but I did not receive any bulletins.

Solution: There may not be new bulletins available at this time. Also, the program only checks for bulletins once per day.
