Practice Management
General Information
Once you have added clients and become comfortable navigating the program, you can begin to take advantage of some of the powerful practice management tools that Lacerte offers. These tools include:
- Client Status -- Used to identify and modify a client's position in your firm's work in progress.
- Filters -- Used to display a desired group of clients. A filter searches the client database and displays only the clients that match specified search criteria.
- Database Reports -- Used to generate various reports that can be useful in practice management. You also use this feature to print mailing labels, custom letters, client lists, and electronic filing reports. You can take advantage of the database management power of the Lacerte program by using Database Reports in conjunction with Filters.
- Appointment Manager -- Used as a time-management utility to keep track of appointments and tasks. You can schedule appointments for clients in any Lacerte tax program and create prioritized to-do lists.
The exercises in this section are designed to familiarize you with each of these useful features.
